*The genus Hypnum is a type of moss that is widely distributed throughout the world. Hypnum mosses typically grow in damp and shady environments, such as on branches, rocks, soil, and decaying organic matter. They are commonly found in moist habitats such as woodlands, forests, rivers, lakes, and swamps. Hypnum mosses have deep green leaves and a soft, furry texture.
